The Renaissance of Astronomy by Noel Swerdlow, 2026

The Renaissance of Astronomy provides a comprehensive, technically grounded account of the works of Regiomontanus, Copernicus, Tycho, Kepler and Galileo. There is nothing comparable to it in scope and detail. It is the fruit of a lifetime of study devoted to the subject.

Imagen adjunta: It is the first book to provide systematic, rigorous introductions to the work of the five great astronomers who replaced the geocentric model of the planetary system with a heliocentric one. It also offers novel analyses on many points of detail---for example, the astrological interests and practices of Regiomontanus, Kepler, and Galileo. Technical expositions are accompanied by a very large number of diagrams of high quality, made by the author, Noel Swerdlow. The section on Tycho Brahe was left incomplete at Swerdlow's death.

A globally celebrated, award-winning photograph by Brazilian landscape photographer Marcio Cabral. Titled "Pandora" (inspired by the bioluminescent landscapes of the movie Avatar), it was captured in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park in Brazil.

Imagen adjunta: A panoramic night photograph titled "Pandora" by Marcio Cabral, captured in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, Brazil. The image is split vertically into three sections. The foreground features a vast field of rare Paepalanthus wildflowers, which are artificially lit from below to resemble glowing, white, fiber-optic starbursts rooted in the dark grass. In the midground, the dark silhouette of a large, smooth mountain rises against the horizon. Arching perfectly over the mountain is a vibrant, 180-degree panorama of the Milky Way galaxy, filled with swirling cosmic clouds of pink, purple, and gold starlight stretching across a dense, dark sky.

Imagen adjunta: A poignant photograph of young Ukrainian children holding hand-painted cardboard signs during a protest. In the foreground, a young boy holds a sign that reads "MOM I want to go HOME" with the word "MOM" painted in the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag. Behind him, an adult holds a sign with the Cyrillic abbreviation "ПТН ХЛО," a derogatory and highly defiant socio-political expletive directed at the Russian leadership. Another child holds a sign saying "I WANT TO SEE MY DAD." The children’s expressions are somber and resolute. The background shows other protesters and greenery, capturing a moment of civil plea for family reunification and peace. The image serves as a stark documentation of the impact of the conflict on the most vulnerable civilian populations.
