When Kip Thorne lectures about the "wormhole" concept in Interstellar, it requires negative mass to hold the wormhole open.
So if there isn't any, no wormholes. Sorry.
The Robert Forward novel "Timemaster" explores the concept by having somebody encounter beings made of negative matter, who can be talked into holding wormholes open, no less.
Forward notes that negative matter brought into contact with positive, would not blow up, but just vanish - negative mass cancels positive.
