I get that the is getting a lot of negative chatter from the privacy advocates.
But at the same time to you have to acknowledge there is a serious problem here. I go out in public, I see parents park their kids in front of a tablet to keep them calm, with next to no supervision.
Teenagers are spending on AVERAGE 4-6 hours online per day, instead of going outside and interacting with humans.

So let me ask you, genuinely. What are the concerns here? What needs to be addressed?

@hpod16 as a parent, I’m all too familiar with concerns about excessive screen time.

But the solution is NOT to build more surveillance. The solution is to regulate the social media companies.

It feels like the @EUCommission is going for the easy target - kids and parents -, instead of the giant corporations with their lawyers and lobbyists.

There’s a word for that: Cowardice.

The Commission is failing the people it’s meant to protect.

A small step for the @EUCommission ... Or a mastodonic one? 👀

Excited to announce that the @EUCommission has updated it's follow buttons on the website footer!
What's that first platform there? Could that be ?
And where did the link to go?
All the posts and comments here on Mastodon calling for this, trust me we read them!
