Huh. Just the other day I read about a scientist whose AI erased two years worth of data with no warning. No backup. Scientific evidence of the worthiness of the beast.

If you haven't been, the Neon Museum in Warsaw is amazing. The displays, but also the history and their ongoing conservation efforts.

@bruces when I moved to Vancouver in the early part of the century, it had lots of amazing neon signs. Five years later they were gone and the city much poorer for it
@bruces Vanishing in Germany too. It is a traditional craft now, less experts than for reed roofs.
Here in the US, everyone has the right to withhold their information, although in a very few cases they might need a lawyer. Many people chose to use the phrase 'I have nothing to hide' that have since learned better ... sometimes at great expense.

Weird? How far back do you wanna go? 27-year-old Hector Berlioz (pre-video, pre-record) got pretty dam weird (for his day) with his 1830 "ymphonie fantastique".

For early weird music, I was going to say John Cage, but he studied with Schoenberg, so I’ll go with the atonal composers. Depends on what you consider weird?

The band Coil in that era was weirdly odd and delightfully occult. Songs like "Love's Secret Domain" and "Things Happen" immediately jump to mind.

Begone dull care is much later, and has jazz which was more experimental.
Oskar Fischinger did An Optical Poem before WW2, but it's experimental visuals with classical music.
